Getting Started¶
This is a brief introduction to Client Connectivity. Client Connectivity is a framework used by Connection Manager (CM) to connect to WiMAX networks. This page also provides information on how Connection Manager performs; the system requirements to operate CM, the devices supported by CM, and the type of customization available in CM. Overview¶
The Clear Connection Manager provides a platform-independent framework to connect to WiMAX networks. The framework supports connections to any WiMAX network using any WiMAX device that is adhered to the WiMAX forum-supported Common API. Connection Manager also provides the functionality to connect to WiFi network on Microsoft Windows using the WLAN APIs. The goal is to have one Connection Manager that enables user to connect to any type of wireless network.
The Clear Connection Manager:
- Allows operators to easily rebrand as per their marketing / customer needs.
- Provides the option to auto-update Connection Manager.
- Supports diagnostics and login at both User Interface (UI) and service levels.
- Manages user profiles for both WiFi and WiMAX networks.
- Sets priority for the profiles.
- Provides public APIs for developers to manage the devices and connections.

Customization¶
The Clear Connection Manager allows you to customize your marketing needs in the following ways:
- Re-skin your logo, name, label, etc.
- Recreate the user interface in Java, HTML (browser-based), and Flash.
You can limit or enhance the functionality as per your requirements using the CM APIs without recreating the CM core functionality. Re-branding and recreating is easy because you’ve the abstracted core CM functionality from CM.
Most interestingly, Connection Manager lets you:
- Create UIs using any technology.
- Connect through a browser to the network.
